What Is EPAT Theraphy?
EPAT® (Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology) Therapy is an FDA-approved method for treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. The treatment itself is painless and non-invasive. Current peer-reviewed studies show that EPAT is a highly safe and effective treatment method for reducing musculoskeletal pain as well as improving function. EPAT works by the application of low frequency pulsed sound waves to damaged tissue which stimulates the metabolism and blood circulation of the injured area allowing damaged tissue to regenerate and heal.

What Should I Expect?
EPAT Therapy treatment sessions generally last 10-15 minutes, done at weekly interval for 4-6 weeks. Treatment varies depending on the specific injury and severity. The devise is hand-held and applies the pulsed sound waves directly to the injured (painful) area, which may result in some mild discomfort, but is generally well-tolerated. There may be some increased soreness in the next 24 hours after the treatment, but this is a healing reaction and should subside by the following day. While some patients find immediate pain relief after treatment, it can take up to 8-12 weeks to get maximum benefit.
